Vessna Perunovic [rs/ca] / 8 minutes

Description of action: Vessna Perunovich's performance Borderline presented at Grimmuseum engages with the notion of boundaries; real and imagined, physical and psychological. The artist investigates a large vocabulary of forms and subjects in relationship to war, conflict and division; simultaneously addressing the spatial ideas that warp and weave and open the work up to a multitude of poetic interpretations. Using the minimal amount of material, namely black elastic string and hooks, the artist transforms the space into a borderline landscape; creating a birbed wire-like separation both, between the two spaces of the museum as well as between the audience and herself. The soundscape which marries the childhood lullaby and war time lyrics sang softly by the artist sets the stage for a morphing of intimate and public, dream and reality.
